The center will hold cultural exchange events and experiences in the form of Chinese tea, cuisine, clothes, architecture, martial arts (Kung fu), paper cutting, ritual ceremonies, etc. These activities will be integrated into series of cultural lectures and courses. Here are some of the events that have been held at OALLC so far.

Tea plays an important role in China. It is consumed at social events and in the course of daily life. Many cultures have created intricate formal ceremonies for these events and daily activities. Tea ceremonies, with their roots in the Chinese culture, differ among other Asian countries including Japan and Korea. Tea varies widely in preparation due to different regions, practices, climates, and categories of teas. For example, in Tibet, the beverage is commonly brewed with salt and butter. In summer, people drink green tea, while black tea is consumed in the winter. Tea may be enjoyed in private gatherings (tea parties) or in public (tea houses designed for social interaction). Tea is also used as a kind of medicine. Our classes and activities about tea help learners to understand these differences, as well as teach how to adapt to different practices properly and how to prepare for Chinese tea.

Chinese people hold ritual ceremonies at each important milestone of life such as birth, coming of age, marriage, death, etc. The following picture is about the capping ceremony of a girl at our center.

Chinese kung fu has developed the several hundred fighting styles over the centuries in China. The center holds activities and class for experiencing Tai Chi at regular intervals.
